Guidelines Offsite Video campaigns

On this guidelines page, you will find the rules we apply when creating all bol Retail Media Offsite Video campaigns.

Types of campaigns

Currently, you can choose from two Offsite Video variations. There are different submission specifications for each type of campaign.

Variations

Standard video

1 to 3 product images

In a standard video, you can highlight multiple products. A product image is shown in combination with one or more product USPs.

General

A standard video:

  • showcases 1, 2 or 3 products;
  • displays a product image in combination with the product name and USP;
  • has a standard intro and outro;
  • lasts a maximum of 12 seconds;
  • includes the white or blue bol logo with the tagline in a fixed position centered at the bottom of the frame;
  • has a background color and vormentaal from the bol color palette.

Visuals

Up to 3 product images can be shared in the standard video.

The product images for standard Offsite video campaigns should:

  • be high resolution and at least 1080 by 1080 pixels in size;
  • be complete: an image for each mentioned product is provided;
  • be provided on a transparent or white background;
  • not include logos/watermarks/text;
  • be provided in .png or .tiff file format (otherwise .jpg).

Color palette

For the background color, the designer will choose from the bol color palette. This choice will align with the advertiser's style and match the campaign message, unless a clear preference is indicated in the briefing. The vormentaal will always have a different color from the same color family.

Color exceptions

In some cases, it is not possible to choose a background color. Established bol campaign formats, such as the Bol 7-Days and Black Friday, have a fixed design with customized guidelines. For these campaigns, the color is predetermined and cannot be changed.

Visual language

When only product images are shown on the banner, we use category-specific visual language. This is carefully and appropriately chosen to match the message and/or products displayed on the banner. During holidays or special occasions, we use visual language to match.

Copy

Within the bol brand identity:

  • The copy is always white or bol blue.
  • The Graphik and Produkt fonts are used.
  • We only communicate rounded percentages.

Main message

Do you want people to become familiar with your brand or buy a product? Clearly guide them towards that goal with your main message, which should immediately grab the consumer's attention. The main message serves as inspiration and guidance for the copywriters, so make sure to describe the message clearly. The main message will be translated into a copy of up to 35 characters.

USPs and product names

In addition to the main message, the following text components need to be provided for the video:

  • The general USP, which will appear in the search bar (max. 25 characters - 1 line).
  • The full product name for each product (max. 25 characters - 1 line).
  • The USP for each product (max. 35 characters - 2 to 3 lines).

Special video

1 product image

In the Special Video, you can highlight one product. The intro consists of a lifestyle image followed by a product image and the product USP.

General

A special video:

  • shows 1 product image and 1 lifestyle image or short video;
  • lasts a maximum of 12 seconds;
  • has a standard outro;
  • includes the white or blue bol logo with the tagline in a fixed position centered at the bottom of the visual;
  • has a background color and vormentaal from the bol color palette.

Visuals

Provide at least 1 product image and at least 1 lifestyle image or short video* to give the designer creative space in the design.

*We use a maximum of 5 seconds from the short video.

Product images

The product images for special video campaigns should:

  • be high resolution and at least 1080 by 1080 pixels in size;
  • be provided on a transparent or white background;
  • not include logos/watermarks/text;
  • be provided in .png or .tiff file format (otherwise .jpg).

Lifestyle images

The lifestyle images for special video campaigns should:

  • be high resolution and at least 1080 by 1080 pixels in size;
  • support the message and the highlighted product is clearly visible;
  • have a realistic feel (no stock photography);
  • not include logos/watermarks/text.

Videos

The videos for special video campaigns should:

  • be high resolution and at least 1080 by 1080 pixels in size;
  • support the message and the highlighted product is clearly visible;
  • have a realistic feel (no stock footage).
